Ceskokrumlovsko [ Region ]
Ceskokrumlovsko - the southern district of the Czech Republic is surrounded on south-west part mountains Sumava, south-east Novohradske hory, form north extensive massif of Blansky les. The river Vltava flows in lenght 114 km here, which is a paradise for lovers of water tourism.The meaningful natural wealth are woods, which cover about half area of the district. A part of Narodni park Sumava (National park) is found on the territories of the district, there are protected scenic areas, about 40 natural localities and a lots of rare places.
There are a lots of special and unique cultural or historical monuments, for example the state castle and chateau Cesky Krumlov, a castle Rozmberk, gothic cloisters in Vyssi Brod and Zlata Koruna, a ruin of castle Divci Kamen. It belong to the largest chateau's in the Central Europe. The unique towm's model you can see together with other exhibits in a district geographical museum. Internation cultural centre of Egon Schiele was opened with exposition originals and documents about a life and works of world reputable artist in 1993 as well as seasonal exhibitions of promitent world artists and sculptures. Od května 1999 lze zde shlédnout výstavu z děl The exhibition Andy Warhol and his works of art you can visit and see from may 1999. You can recognize with mining work in underground of graphite mine.
Once of the most much-frequented recreation areas Czech Republic has become a land on upper part of river Vltava. A dam Lipno with extent about 5 000 ha allures above all lovers water sports and fischermen, a beautiful surrounding is for walkers, as well as cycling. The visitors come to Ceskokrumlovsko not only for historical monuments and the beauties of nature, but for culture and entertaiment too. Cesky Krumlov celebrate every year "The Celebration of Five-Lists Rose" in June, when for three days stop time and the town lives at middle-ages times.
Concerts of musical festivals are very popular - Festival of Chamber music, Festival Old Music, Piano Festival and first International Musical Festival, and then all kinds of arts exhibitions and theatre performances in front of the moving auditorium. Passion's games are special in Horice on Sumave, the performance with chorals about life and death Jesus Christ.
