Philharmonic orchestra Hradec Králové [ Cultural and entertainment centre ]

Philharmonic orchestra Hradec Králové (Filharmonie Hradec Králové - FHK) belongs among the leading Czech symphonic orchestras. With 80 musicians the FHK performs about 90 concerts a year both in our country and in abroad. Its dramaturgy includes symphonic and oratorio pieces of all style periods, the FHK presents not only the old symphonic music but the compositions by the contemporary composers too, makes recordings for the radio, television, CDs ... Besides the three concert cycles in Hradec Kralove the FHK regularly performs on the prestigious concerts in the famous Music Hall the Rudolfinum in Prague (about 15 concerts yearly) and in other towns and cities of the Czech Republic. It also gives concerts in many European countries (Germany, Neederland, Italy, Poland, Schweiz ...). It was conducted by a number of significant Czech and foreign conductors (V. Neumann, L. Pešek, P. Altrichter, P. Vronský, D. Bostock, M. Turnovský, O. Dohnányi and others). Some significant concerts from the recent time: G.Mahler: Symphony No. I Titan with the conductor István Dénes (Trier - Germany), C.Orff: Carmina Burana with the conductor Olivier von Dohnanyi and Soli Melnik, Kusnjer, Dolezal and the Czech Philharmonic Choir of Brno etc...

From 1991 to 2001 the leading Czech conductor, František Vajnar was its principal conductor. The current conductors are Istvan Dénes, Miriam Němcová and Ondrej Kukal as chief conductor.
